Our Story
When history, heritage and innovation take hands
It all started in the seventies, when two young dreamers met while studying art in Belgium. Pascale and Enzo Amaddeo became enamoured and saw an endless garden of opportunities in each other’s eyes. Pascale is part of a third generation of artists and Enzo had grown up in a large Italian anti-conformist family.
The merging of these two universes and the seventies cultural immersion sparked an entrepreneurial and creative venture that would transpire for decades to come. Their four children each play an essential part in the business in his and her unique way. An entrepreneurial and creative venture fuelled by love, took shape into what we know today as La Maison Les Néréides, a family business with heart.
For more than four decades, the Les Néréides trademark has been the signature of highly creative, unconventional and constantly evolving jewellery.
Behind The Scenes
Every collection and piece of La Maison Les Néréides jewellery, is fashioned with meticulous attention to detail.
Each piece starts as a drawing, inspired by nature and the imagination of the designer. Similar to fine jewellery, all pieces are hand-crafted and delicately hand enamelled by dedicated craftsmen. Each floral or animal detail is elegantly coloured with a brush after dreaming up a colour palette that would bring it to life. It is a very meticulous process, where every detail is the result of expert workmanship.
The stones too are hand-faceted: such as the crystals that compose the iconic La Diamantine collection. With this skilled touch, each piece is something truly unique.
Our Soul
The welfare of animals is a cause that is closely aligned with the core brand values of La Maison Les Néréides and its founding family members. Les Néréides Loves Animals is the foundation created by the company in 2015 to support animal welfare.
This season profit generated from the sale of each piece from the Les Néréides Loves Animals Collection is donated to shelters and associations working to protect abandoned, endangered or sick animals.
With Les Néréides Loves Animals as the gold standard we are partnering locally with non-profit organizations Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch & Have a Heart Equine Sanctuary in Bonnievale.
Animal Welfare Society Stellenbosch go beyond the expected, making a decisive difference on the lives of animals in need. Discover more about the AWSS as well as their mission and objectives.
Have a Heart Equine Sanctuary gives all equines in need a place of safety, love and a chance for a new life. Their goal is to care for horses that have been neglected, abused, abandoned or are unmanageable to their current owners. They take in equines in need of medical attention and/or behavioural training. Their care will be tracked throughout their lives to ensure their permanent safety. The Sanctuary also exists to educate the public about equine care and rehabilitation.
The Sanctuary does not only take in equines, they offer a safe and loving home to all farm animals that will live out their days on their farm.
